GENERAL INFORMATION
Altrusa was founded in 1917 in Nashville, Tennessee. Its objectives are to provide community service, develop leadership foster international understanding and encourage fellowship by an international network of executives and professionals in diversified classifications. There are over 17,500 members in 538 clubs.
Its motto is "Patriotism - Efficiency - Service." The name Altrusa is an acronym derived from the words Amity, Loyalty, Talent, Reciprocity, Unity, Service and Achievement.
Its international theme is "Embrace the World with Service and Friendship".
